Playstation Network down for maintenance later today

Playstation 3 gamers who attempt to sign into the Playstation Network between the hours of 4PM GMT/8am PST and 5AM GMT (20th January)/ 9PM PST today will be greeted with disappointment— the Playstation Network will be down for maintenance.

During the downtime, users will be unable to access the following services:

PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP, and Media Go.
PlayStation Network Account Management.
PlayStation Network Account Registration.
PlayStation Home
Music Unlimited & Video Unlimited services

Users already signed in on PSN before maintenance starts will still be able to continue gaming online although access to the features listed above will be restricted. Users already signed in before maintenance starts will have any unlocked Trophies updated unto their profiles once the scheduled maintenance is over.

Madden 12 Demo goes live [Xbox Live, Playstation Network]

The Madden NFL 12 Demo has gone live. You can download it from Xbox Live from Playstation Network today.

The demo pits the Chicago Bears against the Green Bay Packers, a rematch of the 2011 NFC Championship game, and includes five minute quarters, four difficulty levels and the option of using Conventional or GameFlow play calling.

The rosters in the demo will represent those prior to the free agency period, but a full updated roster will be available to download when the retail game launches on August 30.

Madden NFL 11 Demo Coming to Xbox Live and PSN tomorrow! (27th July)

As with all of my short posts, the title says it all. The two teams featured in the demo are the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets.

The full game is due to be released on the 10th of August

New Modern Warfare 2 Game modes (Barebones)

Two days ago, on the 21st of June, two new playlists were added to the Modern Warfare 2 online multiplayer. The significance of these playlists is that they contain game modes where kill-streaks are completely disabled. And they are; Barebones Pro (Team Deathmatch & Free-for-all) and Objective Barebones Pro (Domination, Demolition, HQ Pro, and Capture the Flag). These two playlists are only available for the Xbox 360 at the moment and will be available on July 6 for PC and Playstation 3.

I spent sometime playing a few games on these playlists and it has to be said, it makes the game more enjoyable. There seem to be a lot less campers with the exception of Capture the Flag where noob tubes (grenade launchers) and campers still reign supreme.
